Being at the top of the Google ranking gives you higher visibility, branding and potential to attract more potential customers. How to rank on Google that allows you to achieve your goal?
Well following are the steps you can take in order to rank on Google:
Choose your topic to target and provide deep knowledge
- What is the topic you are targeting?
- Do you have an idea about the topic you are writing on?
It’s important that you know about the topic which helps you to make your article more effective.

It’s preferable if you choose a topic where you have deep knowledge. This helps in making your content engaging and informative. You can write better when you are interested in the topic. So, don’t forget to take this into consideration too.
Choose a niche that is related to your audience and also related to Google searches.
Perform targeted keyword research

Once you have your broad topic, it’s time to start brainstorming specific keywords that people might use when searching for your content. This is a very important step in the process because many people overlook it or don’t take the time to do it properly.
If you already know a bit about keyword research then skip ahead to where I share everything else that I do to create content that ranks well on Google.
Create a clear outline for the post
This step is very important for your content. Once you have a keyword, you need to create an outline of the article and write down all the topics and keywords related to the main keyword.
You should use heading tags with your main keyword and some LSI keywords in it. You can also use headings as subheadings. This will make your content easy to read.
Content should be informative, helpful, and useful for readers.
Write Readable Content

- You want to make sure your content is concise and easy to understand.
- Write in simple language that you would use as if you were speaking to someone.
- It’s important not to use jargon when writing your content. If they can’t make sense of something then they’ll stop reading before reaching their destination at which point all this effort put into creating good quality content will have been wasted!
- Provide bullet points whenever possible and highlight important parts.
- Using more than 1000 words will help search engines find your page and rank it higher in the results because there are more relevant keywords to look through pages upon pages worth of material.
Add images, videos, and other visuals to your post

In addition to the use of factual quotes and statistics, you should also utilize images, videos, and other visuals to support your post. This will help break up the text and allow readers to better follow your points. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then an infographic can be worth millions.
Some of the most successful bloggers making a ton of money consistently use graphics because it makes their content more engaging and visually appealing to their audiences. By adding high-resolution photos and other media types like video clips or infographics to your blog post, you are more likely to appeal to your audience in a way that keeps them coming back for more.
Images make it easier for users to understand what the article is about at a glance, which increases the likelihood of them clicking on it from the search results page on Google. This helps increase traffic as well as boost user engagement. In fact, images were found by BuzzSumo (a content tool) that can increase engagement by 94%.
Writing long articles is good for ranking

So, confused about what works and what does not? Here’s the deal:
- Write at least 1000 words of content. According to our research, this is the minimum amount of content you need to rank in Google.
- Research shows that long articles are good for ranking. The average piece of content on the first page of Google has around 1,890 words.
- Long articles get more backlinks. According to seoClarity, pages with 2,000 or more words get three times more links than shorter ones.
- Long articles have better dwell time – an important metric that Google considers in its algorithm to determine whether your site is going to rank high or not!
SEO optimize your blog post
In this step of the SEO process, you’ll be adding your keywords to your meta tags. This is essential and it can really turn your blog post into ranking in search engines.
What are meta tags?
Meta tags are essential ‘tags’ added to your blog post that tell search engines what each word means on a particular page. By using different keywords in the H1 tag, meta description, and URL of your blog posts, you can get more traffic.
Proofread your blog post

Once you finish writing, read it out loud so that you can hear any mistakes, awkward sentences, or questionable paragraphs. Then use Grammarly and HemingwayApp to proofread your content and make improvements where they’re needed.
You can also use Copyscape to check for plagiarism and ensure that your content is 100% unique.
Promote your blog post

Once you’ve written a post that you’re proud of, it’s time to publish it. But don’t just hit “Publish” and walk away! If people aren’t going to find your content organically, then you’ll have to go out and find them yourself.
Here are some of the things we recommend:
- Email your audience: First, email the post out to anyone who might be interested in reading it. This small effort goes a long way in getting traffic for new posts.
- Share on social media: Use Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Facebook to share the content with all of your followers. Over time this will help build social signals for your domain which is important for SEO rankings.
- Share with influencers: If there are influencers or experts referenced in the post, reach out to them directly via their website’s contact form or other methods listed on their site and ask them to take a look at it once it’s published.
- Promote your post in communities: Use relevant online communities such as Reddit or forums related to the subject of your blog post as platforms for sharing valuable information with others who may be interested in reading it. Be sure only provide help where you can add value! And never spam these communities with links back to your site.
- Link To Your Post From Other Relevant Posts: When publishing each new blog post on our website, we always refer back to older posts that are still relevant by updating them with fresh content and adding internal links from those
Site Structure is important for SEO

- Structure the site in a way that is intuitive to users and crawlers.
- Simplicity is key. It’s easy to get caught up in making everything as technically correct as possible, but your #1 goal should be to make sure users are able to navigate the site and find what they’re looking for.
- Build for the user, not for the search engine. Just because you’ve used a set of keywords throughout your site doesn’t mean they’ll work well together structurally. If it doesn’t make sense from a user standpoint, don’t put it there!
- Ensure that all pages are accessible from the homepage within two clicks. Users (and search engines) want easy access to content!
- Use breadcrumbs on each page so users can easily navigate back up through their path to reach higher-level categories or other relevant pages on your site. Breadcrumbs also help users track where they are on your site and ensure that every page is getting indexed by Google.
- Utilize heading levels appropriately and make sure that every H1 has its own unique text—no duplicates allowed! Heading levels are important because they tell Google how your content is organized: H1 headings convey a high level of importance while H6 headings convey less importance than their counterparts (i.e., H5).
Page Loading Speed is very important ranking factor

Improve Page loading speed. As an SEO, that’s one of the key elements you should pay attention to as it can be a deciding factor between a higher or lower ranking in Google Search.
Google wants to offer its users the best possible experience and websites with poor page loading times aren’t part of it. As websites become more complex, with more plugins and JavaScript used to make them look beautiful, they lose their simplicity and sometimes perform worse on page speed.
However, your website improves by installing WordPress plugins that can:
- Reduce the size of your pages
- Reduce the number of HTTP requests required to render the page
- Use asynchronous loading for CSS and Javascript files
- Make sure you don’t have any 404 errors
- Use a content delivery network (CDN) service such as Cloudflare or MaxCDN
- Use a caching plugin
Use a Responsive Design

Responsive design is a popular web design strategy used by some of these site builders. This approach reformats the same webpage content to fit different screens like tablet or mobile. But in terms of SEO (search engine optimization), the search engines only care about whether a site displays suitably on mobile screen sizes.
Responsive web design has become more important as the amount of mobile traffic now accounts for more than half of total internet traffic. This trend is so prevalent that Google has begun to boost the rankings of sites that are mobile-friendly if the search was made from a mobile device.
Add Social Sharing Buttons

- As a marketer, I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Content is king.” But what if no one sees your content?
- The answer is that it doesn’t matter how good your content is if people don’t see it. You need to get traffic to your blog posts or website before you can start ranking in Google and other search engines.
- One of the best ways that marketers have found to increase the shareability of their posts is by adding social sharing buttons after the post itself, so readers can easily share.
Link to Powerful Websites

Google wants to see that you’re connected to other credible websites. Your website’s content doesn’t float in the ether of the internet. It’s linked with other content and sites that are deemed credible by Google. That includes Wikipedia, news sites, and industry publications. If you want to rank well on Google, it’s a good idea for your website to be linked with these kinds of sites.
Fix Crawl Errors in Google Search Console
Crawl errors are problems that Search Engines (like Google) have when they try to access your website because they can’t find the page you’re looking for.
You can find and fix crawl errors in Google Search Console, also known as Webmaster Tools.
Optimize Your Images

- Make Sure Your Images Load Fast.
For most people reading this, image optimization is going to be the single biggest thing you can do to speed up your site.
The image file size is one of the main factors that affect page load speed and hence impacts SEO. Your images should be as small as possible while still looking good — which means determining how much quality you can sacrifice in order to decrease file size. Large images take longer to load and increase page loading times for users on slower internet connections.
Lowering image sizes improves page load times and reduces bandwidth usage significantly, which also puts less stress on servers and reduce bounce rate.
You can rank on Google if you know what you are doing

Your content must be worth reading, otherwise, people will not read it.
- It must be useful, else why would they want to read your content?
- If the content is not worth sharing, there is no point in creating it.
- The content must rank high in search results so that people land on your page when they search for a related term. If you don’t create optimized content that ranks high in Google’s search results, no one will visit your website.
- People won’t read boring or outdated information, so the content must be engaging and up-to-date.
- Creating low-quality or irrelevant material doesn’t work either, so the quality and relevancy of the content are also very important for ranking on Google.
Finally, the topic you choose should have some value too because why would people even bother looking at a topic that has no value?
I hope you liked the blog post about how to rank on google. Since Google is synonymous with search and anyone ranking higher will have advantage in attracting not only potential customers but also improving your brand awareness.
